Prayers Needed! PDF Print E-mail

Almost two years ago Les's life was drastically changed forever. Thank God he had the hockey family behind him. The prayers and messages of hope and encouragement continue to give him strength to this day.

Now there are two more members of the hockey family who could use some strong prayers sent their way.

On February 25, Lucia "Lucy" Elizabeth Simoes was born. Born at just 24 weeks she weighed only 1 pound 10 ounces. Lucy's parents are Mary and David Simoes. David is a defenseman for the Mississippi River Kings. Mary is sister to Katie Reeder, whose husband, Konrad played for the Colorado Eagles. Lucy has continued to improve, in fact, she just opened her eyes, but she still faces many challenges and will continue to be in the NICU for quite some time! Lucy, David and Mary could use some prayers and strength their way to overcome the hurdles that lay ahead for baby Lucy. You can follow her story on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=368717100324&ref=mf or on Katie Reeder's blog at http://reederfamdamily.blogspot.com.

There is another hockey family that could also use some love and support. Forward Jeff Christian of the Missouri Mavericks and his wife Dorie have learned that their 8 year old daughter, Ryan is battling pediatric adrenalcortical carcinoma. Ryan will undergo chemotherapy treatments to help fight the cancer. You can read more about her story on the Mavericks website, http://www.missourimavericks.com/. If you could also send this young girl some thoughts and well wishes so provide her with strength and courage!

We have seen the amazing things that prayer can do and we know that you all will rally behind these two girls to help them fight their battles and provide their families with words of encouragement during these difficult times. With hockey in these girls' blood, we know they are fighters. :)

Love,
Les and Kara

Stay strong Ryan and Lucy!
